When a request for sweet snacks came through from St Mark’s Hospital in Harrow, the Club was cautious in its response.
It turned out that the members of staff in St Mark’s Hospital were working extended shifts in the COVID-19 treatment rooms, and when they did get a break they wanted something that would give their sugar levels a boost. Breaks are by necessity short, so the staff were hoping that they would not need to travel across the campus in order to get an energy boosting bite to eat.
The Rotary Club of Northwick Park could respond quickly, and that is exactly what they did. Using their network of suppliers they were able to buy the items and supply them within 48 hours.
We all need our NHS staff to be working at full performance, and the Club hopes that this small contribution will ensure that they are energised and properly appreciated.
