Film and Book Review

The  Zoom meeting on the 28th August was  different and expectantly  engaging.  Four members volunteered to  briefly speak on a film or a book of their choice, which they would recommend to others. To say what in their opinion made it great, interesting, impactful and memorable.

The four selected reviews included :- the Academy Award for Best Picture  film  Casablanca, made in 1942.  The books were :- Unnatural causes by top pathologist Dr.  Richard Shepherd. A unique insight into a remarkable profession  which fascinated this reviewer. The unusual, long, title was what attracted this reviewer to look at this book :- Guernsey  Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, was published in 2008. The  authors Mary Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrows wrote this International best seller, historical novel, which was made into a film in 2018. The final review was on a selection of Science Fiction Books By sci fi Author Peter F Hamilton  and covered The Reality of Dysfunction , Pandoras Star and The Great North Road . A fascinating genre for this reviewer who explained why and how he finds Sci FI and “horror” books so enthralling. A meeting with a difference thanks to our reviewers , Siva, June, Barbara and Andrew.
