On Wednesday 4 July the club started with a short Business Meeting. We then began a new monthly format of members demonstrating and describing their personal favourite hobbies. President Sandy showed examples of her paintings, demonstrating what a talented President we have. George delved into the history of Trademarks including the “Bass Beer Triangle”. This was one of the first trademarks in the UK. Doug spoke on heart problems and exercise and the importance of good nutrition. Ros spoke about Social Tennis and Wimbledon. John Evans showed a collection of Rotary Stamps and stamps relating to Canal Boats – very informative. David Hooper brought in some samples of his artwork and his collection of Regimental Cap Badges. Another talented fellow in our midst. Eric showed part of his stamp collection and June talked about her family tree and her interest in Genealogy. John Cone displayed books on Miniature Cars, Toys and Trains bringing back memories from our past. Ritu showed her collection of Fridge Magnets and Dolls which she has been collecting for many years. Di spoke about Choral Singing and Stan brought a selection of Books from his extensive collection.
Ritu & Narinder were back from a visit to New York and Philadelphia. Ritu presented the club with a banner from the Rotary Club of New York. Also, Andrew was presented with the cup he had won
A good evening and a great start to the Rotary Year.
