On Wednesday 30th January, Mark Grimwade of the Elthorne Hillingdon Rotary Club gave us a detailed illustrated account of the Crown Jewels of Europe.
As we were taken around many of the current and former parts of Europe, which had royal families, we were shown examples of the jewels that are still in existence.
Many are now housed in museums where they may be seen and enjoyed. These jewels are / were instruments of the Coronations that have taken place over many centuries.
To support the presentation, we were given details of the history behind their existence.
An altogether fascinating evening.
