Our speaker on Wednesday 27 Feb.was the Worshipful, the Mayor of the London Borough of Harrow, Councillor Nizam Ismail.
He began his talk by telling us he was born in Sri Lanka, trained as an engineer and always wanted to give something back to the community. He was back in Sri Lanka on holiday when the Tsunami hit that country.
The Mayor has been a Councillor for 12 years and served on many committees.
He was fortunate that his Mayoralty coincided wIth two massive events that will not be repeated. HM Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics.
A very good talk enjoyed by all those present.
