Our meeting on St David’s Day, 01 March 2017, was a special event in that the Club held an open meeting. With visitors coming from personal contacts and our recent entries in the Harrow Times local newspaper, it was a busy evening with a full agenda.
We started with a specially commissioned video showing the work of Rotary around the world as well as in the Northwick Park area, featuring the Club’s work with the charity Felsted Aid which takes aid items to the Revival Centre in Northern Ukraine four times a year, and our involvement in the Rotary North London Disability Games held at the Aspire Centre in the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore.
We then had our meal, followed by a short talk on Community Projects, Youth Projects and our International Programme. The evening was rounded off with a short talk from Past District Governor David Palmer, talking about his ‘Rotary Moment’ with the snooker player Steve Davies.
Each visitor left with a leaflet outlining a list of future events and how to get into them. We hope it was an interesting evening for the seven visitors, and we hope members of the club learned a little more about Rotary in the process.
