Our speaker on Wednesday 21 March 2018 was Laura Lindores from Firm Foundation, a local Harrow charity which supports single homeless men and women. Laura has been working for the charity for 18 months. She had also taken time off to climb Mount Everest for the charity and raised £500 in the process.
Firm Foundation were started with the help of local churches and need to raise £100,000 a year in order to keep their activities going. They now have three drop in centres, where hot breakfasts and evening meals are provided, all cooked by volunteers. They also provide somewhere for the homeless to have a shower and sleep for the night.
In Harrow there is about 70 people who are sleeping rough in the streets. Firm Foundation were donated a three bedroom flat in Harrow which they have called “Hope Place”, and that allows them to give shelter for three months.
Firm Foundation was one of the charities that benefitted from our Christmas Collections in December 2017.
