At our meeting on 20 January 2021, our speaker was Past RIBI President and Past District Governor Eve Conway Ghazi, who provided an update on the Polio Eradication Project of Rotary International.
Eve described how the monitoring systems and services for eradicating polio had been repurposed in 2020 for the monitoring of the Covid-19 pandemic. Although this had had an effect on the polio eradication campaign, it was proving extremely useful for those countries where there is limited vaccine availability, and the main task is to maintain physical distance between people and monitor the progress of the virus.
Members of the Club reported on their progress with the Covid-19 immunisation programme, and about several other aspects of Rotary life!
