Our meeting on Wednesday 13 July 2022 would normally have been a Business Meeting, but as the Club Council had not yet met in July, there was a limit on the amount of business to be reported and discussed.
Even so, there was our President’s At Home event to work on, our Club Visit to Dona Teresa in August, and the progress on our subscriptions to update. The final monies from our International Lunch were due to arrive the following day, and a shopping expedition had already taken place for essential aid items for Ukrainian refugees arriving in Moldova. A delivery of aid to the Revival Centre in Chernihiv, Ukraine (which the Club is supporting) was also discussed.
The Club’s application for a significant grant for helping Ukrainian people who are being made homeless has been approved by The Rotary Foundation, and that will require active contacts with Rotary Clubs in Moldova – there are several in the country.
Our Rotakids Club in a local Primary School is holding a fundraising event to support Dementia Research and Alzheimer Research at the end of the Summer Term, and members were being asked to donate suitable items that the pupils can sell.
All this was discussed in record time, so we had an very active Non-Business Meeting!
